About Us

In the fall of 2009, I was fortunate to be a part of several experiences that would soon change my life. The first involved a beloved family pet, a fan site creator nicknamed Spikey, colon cancer, Bradford Anderson, the Manchester Animal Shelter and a corner of the internet called Twitter. All of these unseemingly unrelated things came together, along with Bradford's fans and co-stars, to support a fan and raise money for a great cause. You can read the full story of the Spikey/Bradford Twibbon here.

Several weeks later, as I was taking part in POZ Magazine's Love Out Loud AIDS Walk benefit event I experienced again the palpable synergy created by celebrities and fans coming together to support a cause. Walking the 6 mile AIDS Walk LA a few days later, the synergy appeared again as cast members from General Hospital walked side by side with some of their fans.

As October rolled into November, ideas started to become more cohesive and as I expressed them volunteers began to offer their talent and time. After bouncing ideas around and finally deciding to go for it, fansgivingback.org went live on November 17th.

Our site started with one actress and her cause-Rebecca Herbst and The Smile Train and one of Bradford Anderson's fanbase groups. Using that humble beginning, we began to use connections made on Twitter to gather content for our site. By the end of November, we realized that our site would accomplish its goal: bring celebrities, fans, causes and charities together.

While the fansgivingback.org technical team is working behind the scenes to bring our site to full potential, the content team is working on bringing athletes, musicians, film, primetime and daytime celebrities along with their causes to you!

We hope that you visit often and find inspiration on how you can give back.
