Melissa Joan Hart

(Actress, Writer, Director)
Melissa Joan Hart made her first national television commercial at age three for a bathtub toy called "Splashy."  She made her Broadway debut opposite Martin Sheen in "The Crucible" as an understudy for three of the young girls.  Melissa starred opposite William Hurt in the Circle Repertory production of "Beside Herself" and in Circle Rep's "Imagining Brad".  She also appeared in the hit Off-Broadway production of "The Vagina Monologues". Melissa first made her mark in television playing the title role in Nickelodeon's "Clarissa Explains It All". In addition to "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch," Melissa has appeared on such series as "Just Shoot Me" and "That 70's Show".

Melissa and Paula Hart's production company, Hartbreak Films is known for producing quality family entertainment. She put on her dancing shoes in 2009 when she was paired up with dancing pro Mark Ballas in "Dancing With the Stars".

Melissa works actively for a variety of charities, most particularly those that benefit children. Lupus LA, however, is one of Melissa's favorites. Lupus LA, the West Coast division of the S.L.E. Lupus Foundation, promotes lupus research, awareness, and education, and serves the needs of people with lupus and their families in Los Angeles County. You can find their main website here

Melissa's fans can help join Lupus LA in their mission several different ways:

Get involved: Lupus LA is always looking for people in the lupus community to get involved. You can fill out a survey here

Learn: While lupus is widespread, awareness and accurate knowledge about it lag behind many other illnesses. Knowledge is power. Learn more about lupus here

Donate: Your generous contribution will not only help to provide services for people with lupus and their families, but it will also help increase public awareness of lupus, provide lupus education, and fund research leading to new lupus treatments and, ultimately, a cure for the disease. You can donate here
